Re: Symbol Flexibility - more symbol colors
This is what i am doing now.. i have created many columns using emojis and its various symbols from this site (that was recommended from one of the Smartsheet Team Leaders in another thread) ----> https://emojipedia.org/objects
See images below or the two attached as examples
Re: Using Formulas with cross reference sheets
It looks like you are looking to either use a SUMIFS (note the "S" on the end) or a SUM(COLLECT formula. Both allow you to add multiple criteria. Using the SUMIFS formula, I would try this:
=SUMIFS({5320182 EXPENSE}, {5320182 VENDOR}, @cell = [Last Name]@row, {5320182 SUBCODES}, @cell = "5111")
Hope this helps!:)
Re: Change Formatting in Reports
Absolutely! Customizable reporting formats are indeed a valuable feature that can enhance the usability and effectiveness of any management tool. Providing the flexibility to tailor reports to the specific needs and preferences of different user roles or stakeholders can greatly improve communication, decision-making, and overall productivity within an organization.
Having the ability to easily switch between various report views or formats can empower users to extract the most relevant insights for their respective roles, whether they are involved in day-to-day operations, management, or executive-level decision-making. It promotes a more efficient and tailored approach to accessing and presenting information, ensuring that each user can focus on the key metrics and data points most relevant to their responsibilities.
Integrating this feature into the solution would align well with addressing diverse user requirements and fostering a user-friendly experience, ultimately contributing to enhanced data utilization and better-informed decision-making across the organization.
Re: Change Formatting in Reports
Even on a more simple level where you'd like different views of the same sheet data, eg a Project Plan which might have conditional formats on it highlighting tasks running late, key milestones etc, but you want a cleaner representation of the same data, eg a high level plan (report)
Re: Change Formatting in Reports
Completely agree! Often the users who view reports need/want a different format from the folks managing the information in the sheets day to day. This would be a great feature.
Re: Change Formatting in Reports
Right now we can format sheets & choose to bring over the formatting from there, but that's not enough. Sometimes I want my reports formatted slightly differently than what I have in the sheet(s) it's pulling from. Furthermore, there's currently no way at all to format summary rows in reports, which is infuriating when everything else in the column has no decimals/1 decimal/etc. but the summary row has 5.
Re: Generating A PDF of Form Submission
I wondered if you have to have the pdf vs turning on 'allow recipient to receive a copy of form' that can be found in the Form settings? This is definitely the most straight forward option.
The fillable pdf is a requirement of the Generate Document functionality. One must use a software outside of smartsheet to generate a Fillable pdf - that is a pdf form that allows data entry into fields, then upload that pdf form template to be used as by Generate Document to produce the pdf that contains the row data.
If you must have the pdf, another approach vs Generate Document is to use Power Automate (you might have access to this depending on your microsoft subscription). You could easily set up a trigger within smartsheet to send you the email and Power Automate will automatically do the rest. You could tack on an option at the end of the Power Automate workflow to move the email to your deleted box- it would all be 'hands-free'. If interested, this workflow shows you how the Power Automate can be configured. The example workflow shows the file going to sharepoint but it is easy to change the step to instead send an email to the form submitter (assuming you captured the Created by email address)

Hello Healthcare & Life Sciences!
Hello Healthcare & Life Sciences!
I'm Melanie Corbin, Smartsheet fan and Overachiever Alumni. I've worked in healthcare administration for more than 30 years, mostly in IT Program and Project Management, and most recently, IT department management. I've used several of the leading project management software products, and Smartsheet is by far my favorite. I love the flexibility not only to manage projects, but to create no code automated solutions for all my teams' needs.
Looking forward to interacting with all of you ☺️
