Auto-populating dates

I have several categories in my 'Status' column. (Sprint Backlog, Planning, In Progress, In Review, Changes, Print Files Ready, Print Req Sent, With Printing Services, Complete, Blocked) I would like to have a date automatically populate when the Status becomes 'In Review'. Then, once that date is populated, and if the status is still 'In Review' after 20 days, I'd like to have an automatic email sent to the contact person in the column 'email'. 

I've already asked Smartsheet support, and unfortunately it seems that there isn't an automatic work around other than manually entering the date and then creating a workflow to be alerted 20 days after that date if status is still 'In Review'. That could work, but I currently have over 60 separate projects 'In Review'. Projects that might have just been put there or that have been sitting there for 20 days or more that the client just forgot about.

Does anyone have a work around suggestion?
