HELP! NEED CREATIVE SOLUTION

We are building a submission form where people will be submitting documents into smartsheet.  The analyst who reviews the intake will need to submit that form to another website after it is approved in smartsheet.

Is there a way of getting to the file directory or mapping to it so that when they need to upload that file somewhere else they do not have to open smartsheet, download to their computer, upload it to the new site, and then delete it from there computer?

Thanks,

Scott

  • Hi Scott,

There currently isn't a way to actively map to someone's computer/file directory to trigger an automatic sync of files to and from Smartsheet and their computer.

For this reason, many people seek online solutions, such as attaching a Google doc to the row.

People can open and edit the Google doc without having to worry about syncing/saving.

More on attaching a Google doc to a row can be found in the help center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/518406

  • What about a way that when someone submits  a file to a row that it saves to dropbox/google/box and links rather than saving to SS?  The files are typically submitted via a SS form.
