Advanced Notifications options - add scheduled notifications.

I like the improved Notifications functionality and would like to add one more suggestion.  Can you add a "Delivery" capability so that the frequency/Date/Time for the notification can be customized?  This is similar to the existing functionality in SmartSheet Update Requests.

    Hi Lee,

I've got your vote down on our enhancement request list to add frequency, date, and time as options when creating notification rules for further review by our Product team.

    Thanks for your feedback!

  • As an example, I was thinking of a weekly summary for reporting changes for the full week (delivered Friday afternoon as an activity report or Monday morning as a baseline reminder for beginning the week's activities).

For someone who submits status reports weekly/monthly, it might be useful to see the highlighted changes for these time periods.

There may also be scenarios where a team would want to review the changes to the spreadsheet every couple of days.

I think implementing the flexible delivery functionality of notifications will enable even more uses to the clever SmartSheet user community!

    Lee,

I think these can be done using the existing functionality without the added burden of emails.

    Weekly Summary:

Create a Report that is based on the [Modified] date. The Report can be sent as an attachment on Friday or Monday as desired.

This has the added (potential) benefit that it is a cross-sheet view of changes, not only the one sheet that a Notification would be.

    Status Reporting

The Highlight Changes can be set to several different time periods, including Three Days, Seven Days, Thirty Days or use a Custom Date.

This seems to satisfy your second and third use-cases.

    Lee,

I can see a usefulness in providing a Notification more closely to the time when action will be taken, but see little point in getting a weekly email that says someone changed a cell. We already have the ability to sort of set the date of when the Reminder will be sent (2 weeks before the Start Date, for example)

Can you provide a use case of two on what you would use this feature for?

    I really don't get it.

We don't have this feature for Send Rows and I can't remember many requests for it there. But I can see more use cases for Send Rows than I can for responses to changes.

    Craig
