After linking cells between sheets, text disappears

Hi,

I'm linking a cell between two sheets, and as soon as I create the link, the text in my cell disappears. The blue arrow indicating the linkage remains, but my text is gone. Any suggestions? Thank you!

Which side is it disappearing on? The original sheet or the destination sheet? And are you only talking about 2 sheets where you're the user? Or is it disappearing for someone else?

I believe info will disappear on a destination sheet if that user doesn't have shared rights to the original sheet. (Correct me if I'm wrong!)

  • Hi, Bob, thank you ... I am the owner of both sheets, and the text is disappearing on the destination side. Appreciate your help!

  • Hi Ashley

That's true, this happen also in between my sheets. I'm the owner and the text disappear from the destination side

    That's odd.

I was playing with linking half the day without problems.

Cell linking is not a two way sync. The source cell will populate the destination cell. If you are linking to a cell that contains data, the data will be removed and replaced with the data in the source cell. If the source cell is blank, the destination cell will be blank.

I have an issue where I am linking to a sheet that I want to call "Change Orders". But when I select the sheet, and link to the cell, it changes the text to a date format. The column is set up to receive text or numbers. Is there a way to override this so it will display my text?
