Alert Emails Stopped Sending

I have an alert that suddenly no longer works as of a week or so ago.

When a checkbox is checked, it triggers an email alert to be sent to a recipient listed in another column.

If I modify the action to send to a specific, static contact, it works fine. It seems to be related to sending the alert to the resources listed in a certain column.

Any ideas?

Same thing happened to me, but only if I select specific columns to send out. It works if I let all columns go out.

Support told me they are investigating.

  • I think that I've figured out whats going on here. My update requests stopped going through when I edited what columns would be sent with it. But they started working again if I did this:

Changed what triggered the alert to something new, and saved it. Then I changed it back to the right trigger, and saved it. After I did that the alert was working again.

Must be some bug with the new update. Hope this helped!

  • @SYSPK,

Lucky you, I didn't get a human response from support yet, 24 hours later. They must be slammed.

    @Sam,

Thanks for the tip! It didn't work for me unfortunately. I also tried setting it to send all columns by disabling the option to select columns. No dice. sad

I agree, the timing of the issue coincides with the visual workflow changes they rolled out.

They got back to me and said there is a bug if you have alerts triggered with checkboxes and you also select columns to include in the sendout.

Until it's fixed, try using flags instead! They also work with 0,1 so no need to change formulas.

  • @SYSPK

That worked for me, thanks! You can even convert an existing checkbox column to Flag symbols, and back again, and it preserves the state of the checkboxes.

I'll convert mine back to checkboxes once SmartSheet fixes the bug.

I still haven't gotten a human response to my support ticket that I opened several days ago, they must be slammed. frown
