I'm trying to set up approval emails to go to specific department leads after another box has been checked as reviewed.

Process:

1.) I apply for a position. I select my position from a dropdown, say "IT".

2.) HR gets an approval email. They review my application and click approve.

3.) An email is automated to the IT manager to review and approve. This is where I'm not sure how to proceed.

My condition should read "If HR Approved says Yes AND Position Applied for is IT, then send approval email to IT Manager" but this also needs to be available so that if the position applied for is something else, it would go to the correct manager...

Hi Tyler,

One way to do this is to let HR choose the manager who's responsible for the recruitment.

Another way would be to copy and make a separate rule for all the different departments.

I hope this helps you!

Best,

Andrée

Could you explain that second option, Andree? I'm not sure I'm understanding correctly.

Thanks!

Hi again Tyler,

If you set up a workflow for HR and then make a copy of it and change the settings to represent all the other departments.

Are you with me?

Best,

Andrée

Yes, got it. Thanks. I've gone ahead and just given them a dropdown to select the manager. The only issue with what you proposed above is that I want to have a single form, and my understanding is that forms don't flow into multiple sheets.

Thanks, though!

Happy to help an maybe i can help some more!

You are correct in that the form is connected to a sheet.

Do you have a different sheet depending on which department that is responsible for the recruitment process?

If you only wan't to have one form you could have the submission go to one master sheet and then move the row(s) to the correct sheet depending on which department that is responsible and then have a rule that kicks of the approval process on that sheet.

Would that work for you?

Have a fantastic weekend!

Andrée

I had no idea you could send entire rows to other sheets when they meet conditions. How?

You can't do it natively.

But you can send/copy/move the row to another sheet manually or set up an automation thru a third party solution like Zapier or Azuqua.

Have a great weekend!

Andrée
