Auto-Number starting with 0

Hi

I spologize in advance if I've already asked about this (it has been rattling around in my head for a little while but I can't find that I already posted this question on here).

It doesn't appear that you can begin AutoNumbering with 0. Whenever I try it, it just defaults to 1. Am I doing something wrong? I would like to input a header row into my sheet but that header should be AutoNumber 0 and the subsequent rows should be 1, 2, etc...

    Ramsay,

you are right, I've just tried it.

As a stupid workaround, I would hide the Auto-Number column and create a new one with the IDs calculated by a formula like  =[Row ID]1 - 1  [in each row].  Until you save a form, the new rows will have  "-1" as a value, but it'll work.

  • Ramsay-- Another option would be to create the column as a Text/Number column first and manually enter 0 in the first row. Then, change the column type to Auto-Number--this will start numbering at 1 in the first row after your "0" row. Hope this helps!
