Automatic Staff Details

Hi All

 

Is it possible to have detials auomatically filled in for a person.

 

Eample i select person x from a drop down list to work on a course, the spreadhseet then gets the phone number and email adress of person x from a sperate spreadhseet and auto fills it.

    It sounds like you are looking for a VLOOKUP functionality, which Smartsheet does not support. If you use Contact List columns and the user exists in your contact list or in your account under User Management, then when you start typing the name in your sheet, Smartsheet will autofill the user's name and email address but there isn't an option for phone numbers. 

  • What about enabling a conditional formatting rule so you can set "if person A is entered in column 3, then enter email address on column 4"?

    Tom you can do that, just a couple things...

     

    You cannot have formulas in a contact list column, so it would have to be a text/number column 

     

    If you have a lot of contacts, your formula would be huge. Which is fine, just something to think about!
