Hi,

I would like to block my rows have been accidentally deleted from other users who are Editor (Cant Share), and the users still be able to updated the rows progress. Is there any way to do this?

Thanks

  • +1 to this. It would be really nice to have some additional permissions available than just Admin and Editor. Something in the middle would be great like an additional Editor w Delete/Add and then the current Editors could only Edit but not Delete/Add.

  • Hi All—there currently isn't a way to prevent Editors or Admins from deleting rows but I'll pass your feedback for this type of permission set along to our Product team for further review.

  • Hi,

Hope to get the function ASAP.

    Thanks

  • A contractor I hired "thinks" she deleted a bunch of row while updating the status of one of them. I'm not sure how that could have happened. To me it looks like she may have cleared a lot of content instead since there are a bunch of empty rows. What i want to see is the history, but I don't get my daily notificiations until 12:30 am - which means today is a lost day of work. Is there any way to do the following:

    1.  See IF there was something deleted or cleared?  This is the most important thing right now.

    2.  Recover (go back to an older version - say, yesterday's)

I'm going to set up a deleted row sheet as someone had suggested earlier, going forward, but that doesn't help me right now.  Why can this so easily happen?  This is a huge problem!  Any help would be appreciated.

  • Hello Patti—

You can right-click on cells in the area you believe was deleted and select View History to see the previous information in the cell.

There isn't a way to see the information if an entire row was deleted, but if information was cleared out of cells in the row, viewing the cell history on each cell will help you get the data you need back.

Otherwise, if you were making regular backups of the sheet, you can copy and paste the information back, or import the backup as a new sheet. Details on our backup process can be found in our Help Center: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/506499-backing-up-your-data
