Hi i have a large sheet that needs to be edited by many individuals [circa 30].

Each row contains in a field the email address of the user who can edit or modify the record [row].

Is it possible to:

automate an invite to edit based on parsing the sheet per unique set of emails

restrict for a user to edit only those records which contain their email field. [not worried if they can view other records, but no edit options on these]

If the above cannot be done in an automated fashion. What's the next best approach manually.

Many thanks Mike

    Hi Mike,

If possible for your use case I would suggest that you use the update request feature. The user receiving the request can only edit that row of information and only once. Would that work for your use case?

    I hope this helps you!

    Hi Mike,

Another option might be to create a report from the main sheet that only shows their content.

The downside is the main sheet remains editable by everyone, but if they are only referencing their reports, they will only see their data. If your crew is trustworthy and you make the process clear, this might be a solution for you. Because their row(s) would be editable anytime and their rows are the only ones they would see. You can also use the current user report to only manage a single report for all your users. See the following link for more info on creating reports.
