Hi Team, Can I refer the range (table) of different smart sheet to look for a value of another smartsheet where the LOOKUP is used ?

I recently asked for this feature through their help center since I couldn't get it working myself. Let me know if you have any breakthroughs, but as far as I am aware it isn't available yet.

    Pavan,

    Sort of...

You can't use LOOKUP to grab values from another sheet.  That is an oft requested feature and hopefully coming soon.

But you can keep a master sheet with all of your lookups.  Then one or multiple working sheets can CELL LINK to your master sheet to get the lookup table.  This allows you to only have one source of truth.  This sheet should have univesal view rights.

I have used this successfully in a coupl;e of different systems.

Hi Brett I need to create a master sheet and a range of other sheets. The other sheets will be for different departments to view and edit some of the master information. The master sheet will initially be populated by a form, after which I will be importing and filling in the remaining fields in a given row.

Is there anyway to cell link a column? As the column information will be linking to the same column in the smaller sheets. Manually linking the columns every time a row is added to the master will be time consuming and prone to errors.

If I show you what I have created so far and describe what we are aiming for it to do could you offer some advice about best practice for doing this?

    Brett,

    Thankyou - very much appreciated.

I will write up something succinct with links to sheets and email it to you later today.

    Robin,

when I am a bit clearer I will post the results with comments and links so you can see.

We have a project portfolio which is great as a master sheet but now that other departments are starting to use smartsheets we need sheets/views for purchasing, deliveries and higher management. I am also looking to automate as much of the technical and confirmation communication with clients as possible.

  • Hi Brett,

Sent you an email earlier in the week. Just want to check I got the address correct?

Was my query too broad or too many questions? Let me know. Looking forward to making a start on this even if it's just a few columns linked between existing sheets. Jay

  • Hi guys,

I haven't seen any updates on this in the forum and tried to look for other possible solutions, as I also need to lookup data into my order sheet from another sheet (product master listing).  My master listing includes more than 2000 records of product data on a separate sheet.  I cannot link the cells from the master listing, as the list changes continuously, and it will require me to unnecessarily create lines in my order sheet , only to be able to list all the products for lookup purposes.

I'm really looking forward to SmartSheet adding this feature soon!

    Thanks laugh

    Any updates on this feature?

  • Hoping we can achieve this with Cross sheet reference lookup now.  ??
