Can a web form user make an update without sheet access?
We have the following request.
A department has a sheet to track requests from different people/departments.
The sheet has request need, type of request, requester name, due date, and many other fields.
Submitters use a web form to submit the request. After submitted, they may need to change or update information. So they send an email and then the SS owner has to manually make the update instead of the submitter.
(SS- you're making us lazy and super-efficient, thank you!)
What are my options so these people can make updates without emailing, submitting a new request, accessing the sheet themselves, or the SS owner sending them an update request (which would mean the submitter would still need to contact the sheet owner.

Thank you so much for this question! Your best option for these users to be able to make these changes without having access to the sheet would likely be to set up an Automated Update Request to trigger when a row is added. This would allow the user to receive this Update Request without the sheet owner having to send it via a Manual Update Request.
I've attached a screen shot below of how I've set mine up.
As long as there is a Contact List column (possibly the "Requester Name" column which you mentioned, or a Created By column with users signing in to use the form, even without needing to be given access to the sheet), you'd be able to have that trigger and go to the appropriate user to update.
I'll also attach a screen shot showing the Form Options, where you can select the "Registered Smartsheet User" option.
