Card View - Data Entry (Logic & Formulas do not show up)

I went through a lot of trouble to program my Smartsheet with formulas and logic to make sure the data entry was sound.   Only to discover that when someone enters data via the card view, things to not do what they do in grid view.     I have many columns to populate and the entire point was to make it easy and smart.  Does anyone know how to fix this...or did I miss doing something to make the card view work like the grid view?    This could be a deal breaker for my client ......

Has any one experienced this?

It is working fine for me. In the below screenshots you will see a few rows of data.

The columns Start Time and Finish Time both have formulas in them.

    1. Starting Data

    2. Switched to Card View

    3. Added new "Card" (did not enter data into Start or Finish time fields)

    4. New card added

    5. Grid view showing the new row added along with the formulas being auto populated

If yours is not working correctly, you may want to contact Smartsheet directly.

  • Thank you so much for your reply and all your community help.  I am learning all of the in's and out's.     I am creating a sheet for my team that will be doing data entry.  Support advised me that needed to lock down the formula fields so people will not wipe them out in error because that was messing up everything I created.  Lesson learned.

I did contact support to and asked for a feature request.

      • ??We don't currently have the ability to show where a formula is listed while in Card view if the formula is currently not entered (would be entered by autofill), but I've let our Product team know about your request. We appreciate your input!
