Charts - Dashboard Widget

I'm trying to create a pie chart using data from parent rows. I want to use first column as the labels and the corresponding (right) column with the numbers as the data. When trying to do so, I get the following message:

"Please select a cell or range of cells that are next to each other. If your rows are collapsed, please expand them before selecting"

But, I don't want to use the data in the expanded rows. I just want that data in the parent rows. How can I accomplish this?

Thank you!

    Max,

An alternative solution is to create another sheet and use cross-sheet formulas or cell links to reference the specific parent rows as labels and respective numbers, all within the range.  Then a pie chart can be created against the new range.  You can also create this new range with in the same sheet.  If more than 3 series, make sure you click on Switch rows/columns to make a chart with more than 3 series.

    Thanks

  • Why can Smartsheet Labs Charts let you select whichever row you want and not this?

    Mike,

We acknowledge that Labs Charts lets you select which ever rows.  We plan to provide solutions to enable users to select specific data as a range in future enhancements.

    Thanks
