Color Changes and Filter Bar?

Perhaps I'm loco, but 02/13/18 during the morning hours, I did not notice anything unusual about my landing screen colors. I log on after I get home, and my open tabs are now Orange and blend in too well with the background, and I now notice a Filter bar. Was this an update? I don't like it. Can we please get another option in our Personal Colors settings to change the color of our tabs? Also, can we have an option to minimize the Filter bar?

    Welcome to the new release:

They also removed the "dismiss filter menu" option. :(

David M. our team is experiencing the same issue!

We are also having trouble with our sheets that have hyperlinks. The new color palettes completely blend in with hyperlinks. The color in the screenshot is what we use across all of our sheets. We tested other colors, but two things:

    (1) Out of all the colors only a few options reflect well.

    (2) If we select either of those colors that would mean we would have to change over 70 sheets and no telling how many cells in order for hyperlinks to be visible.

    SmartSheet, please help!

  • "We’ve updated the visual styling of Smartsheet by removing color gradients..."

    That's humorous.

    (I really am loco)

  • Not a fan of the new color update. Hope we see another change to colors again in the near future.

Definitely not a fan of the new color update!  We use background colors on rows in conjunction with hyperlinks, and now with the new color scheme, it is very difficult to view the hyperlink text!

    Please help

  • I agree, this is a poor change. These are the problems I've noticed:

    - The brightness contrast between the tabs and the background field is now inadequate to easily and quickly distinguish the difference, and to distinguish between separate tabs.

-The squarer tab design with sharper corners makes distinguishing between separate tabs more difficult.

-The removal of drop shadows and "3D" edge highlighting has made it more difficult to distinguish between adjacent, separate elements.

-On many of my sheets, the color changes to old custom colors has resulted in inactive tabs with white text on a pale-colored background, making it much more difficult to read.

-The hyperlink color is no longer the worldwide, browser-independent, HTML5-recommended #0000EE color, making hyperlinks harder to recognize quickly.

-The color options palette has changed, and now many of the color options, especially blue, are either too pastel or too bold for effective highlighting.

-The fact that hyperlinks have become more pastel blue, and that the blue I preferred for highlighting and title bars has become more bold, makes that combination nearly impossible to read.

Compare the images below of the old UI to the new UI on the same sheet, especially the new tab/text colors and the hyperlink on row 12.

I'm not sure what the goal of these changes were, but you've managed to introduce a mild but noticeable decrease in efficiency and usability.

    Hi all,

We had similar feelings. See thread here:

Thanks for pointing out the release notes, Craig.  I didn't see any kind of public announcement but am glad to know there is some documentation of the change, even if we aren't fans of it either.
