Currency Conversion USD to CAD

I am currently using both currencies in my sheet.
I created a column drop down, need help with a formula.
If I select USD from that column, the amount should be converted to CAD if I select CAD from that drop down column then the amount should remain same.

smartsheet would have to check market prices of the currencies in order for it to do this automatically, which I am fairly confident it does not. If you use one of the sheet summary cells to reference that you manually update with the ratio of they currencies this could simply be multiplication.
You do have the issue that historical values will be inconsistent with this approach. This can be fixed by having a secondary sheet and either submit the ration on a form in a different sheet, or use a moveto rule to make the values static, neither of which is optimal.
Best approach is using the API to deliver the current value comparisons and marking the values to static after calculation, but that relies on coding knowledge.
If any of these approaches interests you let me know and I can go into more depth. Hopefully someone else has a better answer than me. You can submit a product enhancement in the toolbar on the right in order to request this feature gets added to the program.
