Hi @Mark Cronk ! Question for you, how would I sort the data shown below? i.e. so that the "Approved" are all together, and so on

Hi @Erick Gutierrez,

Are you trying to sort information in a sheet? If so, the steps are pretty easy.

1) Right click on the column you are trying to sort.

2) In the pop up menu select Sort Rows.

3) You should see the column name in the Sort Item By field and Sort Ascending should be defaulted to automatically.

4) Click Ok.

You can sort in descending order Z-A using the same steps above. I have attached the link for information on sorting in Smartsheet. It goes into detail as to how information is sorted.

Thank you that worked, is there a way to sort by a different order other than A-Z?

Do be aware that sorting is undoable on a sheet. An alternative method is creating a report including all the columns you want and then sorting the report itself. It will not mess with your original data and give you a sorted view of the data.

Hi @Erick Gutierrez

To add to the previous excellent advice/answers.

I'd recommend adding an auto-numbering column, and then (depending on your process) you can always get back to the default sorting.

Would that work/help?
