One of the things that we have done as of late to speed the ability to work in the sheet and for people to move about in the sheet is hyperlink your sub sheets to your master sheet. The Hyperlink creates a fast way to go to anothe sheet without closing the main sheet. If you have you settings correct you can have a new tab in the browser open and you will have to sheets open at once. If someone is new or you want your boss to use Smartsheet this makes it easy to get to the infomation and back. The sheets name that is hyperlinked is turned blue. As soon as you select it you are sent to the other sheet. We used this to launch a mastermind group that has 40 businesses and 40 sheets per business. All of the new users found their way around quickly.

Great suggestions Jeremy, using Hyperlinks, attachments and links out to Google and Dropbox we have a Library Bucket sheet that is just that, a Library of all the important documentation, web links video collateral et al for the different departments in our team. Gives everyone easy access to what they need to get their work done more easily. It's a simple solution to a common problem of lack of visibility.

Great tip Jeremy! Internally here at Smartsheet, we have a sheet called Company Resources which has all the resources an employee may need. There are links out to sheets where they can record PTO, view the team contact list, support processes, etc. The sheet also contains tons of information from health care contacts, employee handbook, to office maps and expense reports. As an employee, its a great resource for all thing Smartsheet and helps to lighten the load on HR.

I learned a bit about that HR sytem when I was there. I am going to barrow a bit of it for our company. We doubled in size yesterday and we are in need of getting this data put together.

  • Is there a way to make the link open a smartsheet as a new tab in the same Smartsheet session? and if the sheet was already open, just to get there.

It would be very good for navigation amongst many sheets.

Also, is there a formula like =HYPERLINK(... ?
