Calculate workday duration between two dates?

Hello! How can I calculate the number of workdays, minus holidays, between two project dates (i.e. the project start date and project end date)? I have read up on the WORKDAY formula, but I can't seem to make it work with my data.
I am trying to run a Schedule Variance calculation, and I'd like it to update live based on the changing project schedule.
