Dynamic View- using multiple contact columns to restrict access
I have a dynamic view that used to give access based on two columns (if you were in the Contact or Back Up Contact - you could see that row).
On Tuesday this functionality was no longer working (the page would not load for anyone) and I went in to fix it and had to select the restriction just on one contact column- I cannot select two. When I google this, it appears that this has been the functionality all along.
Does anyone know if something changed, or a work around for this?

Apply a filter to the sheet and then you can select that filter in the Dynamic View.

@Paul Newcome If I am reading this right, then this solution only allows for just one person to so see the row, correct?
If I filter the view in the sheet as suggested I have to allow visibility of all rows to all parties filtered
I need to have multiple contacts be able to view their specific rows.
i.e.
emails of:
person1, person2, person3
manager1, manager2, manager3
Leader1
Row visible to:
1 Person2, Manager3, leader1
2 Person1, Manager1, leader1
3 Person3, Manager3, leader1

If I could use a formula to dynamically add multiple contacts to a contact column that would a solution that would work for me I think

You would set up a filter in the sheet itself similar to the screenshot below. You can then apply that filter within the Dynamic View.

Thank you for the details ... That worked out better than expected and was super easy to follow! Huge Thanks!😁

@Paul Newcome , is there a way to do this if the source is a report?
-
@MarieM You would set up the report with the filter. The Dynamic View wouldn't need an additional filter because it is only going to display what is shown in the report to begin with.

I'd like to allow the user to see a row if they're assigned in any of 3 columns in a report (each column comes from a different sheet). I don't see the option for filtering out viewer/user in the report. @Paul Newcome

Hi,
I am new to dynamic view and found this post very helpful to address my issue of having 3 columns with user emails that I wish to select (Lead, Others, Followers). I have filter on the report that displays rows based on Current User which is working properly. However, when I go to set up a Dynamic View I am not given the option to "Restrict View by sheet filter." Any ideas why this option is not showing for me. I am the owner of all sheets and reports.
Thank you.

Hi,
I figured it out. The Restrict View by Sheet filter option appears when applying Dynamic View to the sheet. I was originally attempting to apply Dynamic View to a report.

@Halina W You are correct that that option only appears when referencing a sheet, but the Dynamic View will automatically pull the appropriate rows from the report based on who is viewing it. When referencing the report, there is no need to try to select a separate filter because the DV automatically inherits the filter(s) built in to the report.

Good to know! Thank you.
