Lag days not included in project duration

Should the lag days not be included in the overall project duration?  All tasks below the line in black, are subtasks and only the actual durations roll up.

I guess the task with lag days is not on the critical path - so it does not affect the length of the project.

    Deborah,

(Well, I had a long answer to the wrong question - so I deleted it)

In the example you showed, the 2d delay may or may not be part of the total duration.

For a particular task, the duration is elapsed effort. (That was the long email)

For summary tasks, it tasks the start and end dates to determine duration.

    Summary Task

    Task 1 - 3 days

    Task 2 - 3 days with a 2 day lag

    Total duration is 8 days.

    What you have is

    Task 1 - 7.5 days

Task 2 to 4 - all occuring within that 7.5 days

so no impact to the final duration

    Craig
