Could a task be assigned to a group of contacts?

I would be interested in sending reminders and notifications to a group of people. I don't see helpful including more columns to do so as the table will be too long.

This has been requested more than once.

The Group functionality has lots of potential but has recieved no attention as far as I can tell since being introduced.

  • Has there been any movement on being able to assign a single task to a group? This would be super helpful and less redundant with what I'm working on, and I'm sure what others are working on as well.

    Thanks!

  • I was searching for this function as well.

I created a work around where I added a false group -- a group in name only -- to my Assigned To drop down. I then created a notification to email the false group.

For example, I added "Everyone" to my Assigned to drop down. Then in Notifications, I created a notification that alerted All Shared Users. (Photo attached)

I also asked my Report connected to this sheet to report on Current User as well as Everyone so these tasks show up in our individual Tasks report.

The only hiccup I found is that the Everyone tasks, when modified or marked Complete are modified and marked complete for everyone. (There is likely a work around to this as well)

You could repeat this for as many Groups as you have and you could select a specified list of users instead of All Shared Users. Not incredibly automated, but it works.

    Hope this helps

    Hi,

    This might help!

Yes, assigning multiple people to a task is now available.

Please see the attached link/screenshot for more information.

    I hope this helps you!

    Hi all,

We're pleased to announce that you can now quickly & easily assign tasks to multiple people. To do so, check the new "Allow multiple contacts per cell" checkbox in any contact column. The cells in that column will then allow up to 20 people to be added.

You can still leave that option unchecked when you only want a single person to be assigned to a task at a time.

Adding multiple contacts to a cell is useful not only for assigning people, but also for other scenarios where you want to associate multiple stakeholders with a row. For example, you might want those people to receive notifications when the row changes, or you may want them to appear in reports and filters.

For some projects, you may want to add 2 contact columns: one for the primary owner, and another for additional team members.

We welcome you to try it out and let us know what you think.

Hi. Just chiming in to say that while the ability to assign multiple people to a task is awesome, there's another feature I'd like to see. We have the ability to create groups within our contacts; I'd like to be able to assign a task to a group.

Agree with Betty. Would still like assign to group so I don't have to re-pick all 12 team members as assignee's every time I need to initially assign tasks.

    Thanks in advance.

  • I agree with Betsy! I'd like notifications to go to a "position" not a person. If a specific person moves to another function, I don't want to have to go find every automation they are involved in and change it. Id rather assign automations or contact lists to a group, and then manage that group in 1 spot. is this something that is being looked at?
