Data retrieval
Help - I have deleted data from a sheet and the sheet refreshed unexpectedly when I closed it - can I get the data back?

Contact support@smartsheet.com and hope they can help.
Did you delete rows/columns or only remove the data?
If the latter, you can painstakingly recreate them:
1. Turn on Highlight Changes (likely "today" as the criteria)
2. If there are lots, take a screen capture or otherwise save the info so you see what changed later.
3. In each of the highlighted cells, right click and view cell history. You'll at least know what was there (unless it was a formula)

Many thanks but sadly I deleted the rows - usually it asks if you want to save changes when you close the sheet but this time it didn't so I didn't get the opportunity to say don't save changes which was my intention - rather embarassing as it is the reults of a survey sent to about 150 persons - guess i'll have to sing the sorry long loud and clear and send it out again.....!

Provide them with the exact sheet name and the email address of the sheet owner, as well as the time (with your time zone) that the data was deleted.
They may be able to send you a checkpoint in the form on an Excel file that contains the deleted data. You'll then need to manually copy and paste that data back into your sheet.

You may want to set up a reoccurring backup with smartsheet. It won't help you right now but it may be handy in the future. If you right click on your sheet or workspace name the option for reoccurring backups will be in the dropdown menu.

You might also want to double check your settings to prevent this from happening again in the future.
Go to Account > Personal Settings > Settings and ensure that the checkboxes are not checked for auto saving after 3 minutes and when leaving the sheet.
