Define a named cell

I could not find the equivalent to a define named cell in smartsheet, the closest I find is refer in my formula as $[column]$row and that is clumsy when i want to xxx * $[column]$row.  When in MS Excel i can just xxx * rates where rates is $[column]$row

Did i miss it in my search for smartsheet help?

  • Hello Lawrence,

There isn't a way to define a cell in Smartsheet, the closest option being to create an absolute reference with the $ sign as you've done so that the reference doesn't change.

You could also set aside a section of your sheet for named cells and values -- and then reference them with VLOOKUP.

But you'd still need to know where the table was, so it does not bring much except perhaps a hint at what $[column]$row would mean.
