Hi,

I'm trying to create a dynamic 'To-Do' list (for want of a better phrase), that automatically steps the jobs - i.e. only start task 2 when task 1 is expected to complete.

I want to make this as automated as possible, and I understand that dependancy columns do not accept formulas, but wanted to know if there was another way of resolving this.

All tasks would preferrably auto-fill with a 5 day duration, starting when the previous task is expected to be completed.

Sorry if I'm not being clear, I'm new to raising threads on Community - any feedback would be amazing

To do this without using the dependency settings, there are a few different ways to establish predecessors.

Will the tasks be listed in order where Task 1 is on row 1, Task 2 is on row 2, and Task 1 must be completed before Task 2, Task 2 before Task 3, etc?

Or

Will the different tasks be in a random order on the sheet?

How are new tasks added?

How are tasks marked as completed?

Are you able to provide some screenshots with some "dummy data" to show what you currently have as well as what you are hoping to accomplish?

Thanks for your feedback!

I currently do not really have anything set up, this plan will be used within our Engineering Team to advertise their projected 'lead time'.

The tasks will be entered in order, to try and accommodate a FIFO (first in first out) ruling, but once task 1 is complete, task 2's time required needs to start from the date task 1 was completed..

What we are aiming for might be a little bit too 'fluid', but not too sure...

I would include screenshots, but as I have nothing created yet I wouldn't know what to include.

This is actually a pretty straightforward solution. If you would like to share your email, I can share a sheet to you. It will be much easier to explain with visual examples what exactly is going on within the sheet.
