help with If function

I have the following if function (IF([Audit Start Date]3, ([Audit End Date]3 + 7), "Audit to be Scheduled") and I get Invalid data type.

the formula works when there is no date in column. However, formula does not work when there is a date in column.

I dont know what else to try. This formula works in excel...

Usually, when you create an IF statement you need to have criteria. IF THIS, THEN THAT. Your current statement doesn't have any criteria. You need to include a what... IF audit start date 3 = something, or is < or > than something. Then you can perform the THAT statement. When do you want the formula to do exactly?

It's also important to know that the IF formula will return your THAT statement in the field that the formula exists in. So if you're ultimately trying to return a date, then you need to make sure that the column you put it in is a date column type. You can change the type of column by right-clicking on the header and changing the properties to a date column type.

What I am trying to accomplish is this, if the audit is scheduled, then calculate when draft report is due from audit end date, which is 7 days from Audit end date. If there is no audit start date then the formula should enter Audit to be scheduled. I have attached a screenshot....TIA
