Hide rows when a task is completed.

Hello!

Smart sheet is a good tool for keeping upto date with daily tasks. However as the days go by the rows increase and they are not in the normal view and we have to scroll down to go to the tasks. Is there a way that the rows will automatically hide after a few days of completion or once the task is completed.

Thanks

Parvathy

You can set a conditional format to gray out the row or you when the row is complete make it a child row and hid it that way.

  • You can use the Indent feature which makes a + that you can open and close. They are CTRL K and CTRL M.

  • Set a filter to hide rows that are maked as complete. Once a task is marked as complete, save and refresh your sheet to hide the rows. At anytime you can right click on any column header and select Remove All Filters to see all your rows again.

I take a slightly different approach on my To-do list. Once a task is completed, I do apply conditional formatting to gray out the text; but then I move it to a "Done" smartsheet. Right-click on the row, select "Move Row to Another Sheet", type in a word from the name of the other sheet and, when you see the sheet you want, select it and click ok.

All my done tasks are in one place without using the filter. But I am definitely interested in a Hide Row function - so please add my vote!

    Cameron,

I liked your idea, but unfortunately filters are only able to work as a local setting.  They are not global like highlights.  Not sure why, but if you didn't set the filter, then the filter does not impact your sheet.  And if you're sharing with others and just want to trim off the completed tasks from your list you are limited with options.

Otherwise, it's a great way to track your own private sheets.  I'll be using this on some of my own sheets today Laughing

  • I would like to add a vote for the auto-hide functionality!
