I am trying to use a vacation schedule to show all employee vacations, however it won't factor in the 'bank holidays' during the year. For example one employee has taken 5 days vacation (Fri 27th August to Wednesday 2nd September) but Monday 31st August is a UK bank holiday. Although I can put in our non working days on the gannt view it won't count them as non working days in the vacation schedule so will still count it as a vacation day. The actual vacation he will be taking is 4 but it is still counting as 5 as it doesn't recognise the bank holiday in between........Does anyone know of a way to get around this please?

I just tried it on a test sheet and it seemed to work ok.  I am assuming that each row on the gantt is supossed to to represent a period of Holiday, you enter the start day and the end date and expect the Duration to calculate the number of days holiday taken, ignoring the bank holiday.

I assume that you have checked the Gantt Settings (cog wheel top left of Gantt chart) - dependency settings,  That the Start date is looking at the right Column, The Edndate is looking at the right Column and Duration is looking at the right column and the bank holidays are set correctly

As an alternative you could use the Formulae Networkday() or Networkdays()

Thanks JamesR, I originally tried the dependancy settings and put in all non working days but it didn't want to play ball for some reason so after your comment and the help link I have put the non working days in a cell at the bottom of the sheet and applied the Networkdays formula Laughing
