How can I include an attachment shared to the sheet in requests for approval?

I am using a sheet to manage a client contract approval process.

I am imagining attaching the draft contract to the sheet itself or to a single row towards the top of the sheet.  I have several approvers listed below in separate rows and need to send out requests for approval with the draft contract attached. Is there any way I can attach the draft contract to the automated request for approval without having to attach the document to each row?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

    Hi Kevin

You can add the attachments from a ROW to an approval request.  From reading your post, it looks like you might still be in design stage here.  I would recommend revisiting how you are going to store your list of approvers.  If you are storing the list through a number of rows, how are you planning to determine which approver to use?

Are you using a sheet per contract? or are you wanting to track multiple contracts in one sheet?  If it is the latter, then 1 row in the sheet should be able to support ALL necessary information required to track the approvals process from start to finish, hence adding the contract to the relevant Row that needs Approval.  (To be honest, this sheet should be able to track more than just the approval process if required, as in what happens before and after the approval)

I am a Smartsheet Consultant that helps clients design their sheets so that their processes flow using Smartsheet as the technology to power their processes.  I would happily engage with you to see if we can determine a robust sheet design to ensure that your workflow will automate easily.

    Hope this is useful.
