Tony is right George, it does need to work with 365 outlook and once set up is really good for moving the narrative in any email and attachments straight into a Row in a Smartsheet while still in Outlook.

Brilliant, we love it. Might even be worth buying a 365 License?

We can help if you get stuck

  • I also believe that Skype presence awareness functionality should be available this month which is very exciting!

  • George,

We're actually making some minor improvements to the Outlook integration now. If you can send some screenshots of what you're seeing and what you are expecting to see that would be helpful to see if there is something we can do to improve your experience.

  • Hi Scott..can you elaborate further?  I would like to know if Outlook integration for non-O365 users will exis.  thanks

Yes, I too would like to know about non O365 integration.  I currently have the SS plugin installed, but nont fully functional due to O365 issues.  It'll work for about 2min before it asks me to login again and again and again.

  • Tony,

We do not have plans to make our Outlook add-in to work with on-premise Microsoft Exchange servers. This is due to a combination of technical feasibility and customer demand. While it is theoretically possible, it will require significant effort and still won't work for many customers with on-premise exchange.

  • Brad:

I heard that we had a support case open this morning with a similar description of what you're seeing. My team will investigate this and we'll get back to you via support. If you're not using O365 for mail (e.g. an on-premise exchange server) then it won't work, but we should definitely give you a clear, actionable error message as to why its not working.

  • Tony, Richard and Scott:

Thank you all for your responses. The integration with the subscroption is great and what I would expect to see. I have the O365 subscription web version AND the outlook app that is linked to the subscription.  What I was looking for was exactly what Tony was mentioning and in my next response, I will attach a screenshot. Again, thank you all for your responses as they are very helpful!

Hi, is there any feature on the outlook integration to create and update Outlook distribution lists
  • Hi,

I have an outlook/office 365 account. I receive emails with attachments, each email is an action item for my team. I want to set it up so that everytime an email is received it creates a row in a smartsheet automatically. Can this be done ? If so How ?

    Thanks Everyone.

  • Kos,

The Smartsheet for Outlook Add-in documentation walks through how you can use our Smartsheet for Outlook Add-in to easily Add an email message and their attachments to new or existing rows in your sheets which works on Outlook Desktop, Outlook Online, and Outlook Mobile. This is super easy, but slightly manual.

If you want a completely automated setup so that every email goes to a sheet automatically, I suggest looking into Microsoft's Flow, Zapier, or Azuqua all of which have quality integrations with Smartsheet capable of adding rows to a sheet in Smartsheet. I'm fairly sure they can also use an incoming email as a way to kick off a flow too.

I am currently having an issue with connecting to Smartsheet through Outlook.

It was working well a few days ago but after several attempts no luck. Screenshots attached. I have clicked the "Allow" access button (the correct email account shows up but I blocked it out). After I allow access, it goes to a blank webpage.

Could there be any issue if my Outlook account is through my work email and I am connecting to my Smartsheet account through my personal gmail?

I have uninstalled and reinstalled the Outlook App/Add-in along with signing in and out of Smartsheet.
