How to: Force Dashboard to be default screen when starting Smartsheet?

Is it possible to force the Dashboard to be on top each time you open Smartsheet? I searched but found no informationabout this, and any options are not obvious to me.

I think it would be quite useful to always open to the To-Do list.

Smartsheet isnt able to default you to the dashboard when you log in, but I'll add your vote for this enhancement request!

  • I would vote with you Travis, and Would that you and everyone in smartsheet for the community. its a great idiea.

I added your vote as well, OMH! Cool

  • Thought I'd comment on this due to the new changes that will be coming to the dashboard. One of the widgets that is disappearing is the My To Do List. The dashboard changes article indicates that it's going away due to lack of use. I wonder if anyone uses the dashboard frequently since it isn't the first thing people are taken to when they log in to smartsheet. It'd be nice if that were the case since I could start the day seeing my To Do list/other dashboard widgets in smartsheet rather than seeing the last sheet I was on the previous day.

Denise, you are correct in that the current dashboard will soon be replaced with a more robust and useful dashboard (I saw a preview of it yesterday - looks great!). As far as your To Do list, have you tried using reports to create a To Do list? A report could automatically pull in rows from a single sheet or multiple sheets based on criteria you set. For example, you could show all the tasks that are due in the next 14 days. Or all the tasks where you checked a "To Do" box on the row.

  • That would be a good idea. Another workaround request would be to have the ability to reorder the Favorites for priority.

Stan, I will pass this along. Just to be sure I understand the request, you are referring to the Favorites section on the Home tab and would like to sort by priority rather than Name, Owner, Last Update, etc?

How would you like for this to work? Would you set a priority from the Home tab Favorites section?

  • I envisioned the ability to drag to reorder the favorites in the order I want them. Like Favorites in a Browser. You are also able to do that in the new Sights Shortcuts widgets.

    Understood - thanks Stan!
