Hyperlinks reformatted

I have found that when I import an excel sheet that has a hyperlink to one of my test procedures, it appends the link with an extra “.0”.  For instance, one of my test procedures has a document number "75895", and it has a hyperlink to a website that will open document number "75895".  The problem is that when I import this item into SmartSheet, it displays the hyperlink as "75895.0" and this is not good, as it makes it look like the test has a revision level of zero (which in our system means it is not validated).  How do we get it to stop inserting the extra zero?  I tried formatting the cell as text in Excel before importing it to SS, but same problem. (also tried converting to .xls instead of .xlsx, tried unchecking “import formulas”, tried several other things – no dice)

How do we fix this?

You could try to copy and paste the data from Excel into the sheet after you import the sheet.

Sounds nice, but it didn't work.  There is a problem with how SS uploads/exports hyperlinks.  I can upload them with the friendly name if I go through excel->html->excel->upload.... whew!

However, after all that's done if I try to export then i get rubbish (#unresolved...)

Thanks for trying John.  I'm on the line with SS help to resolve this, but no soluiont yet.

This feature was fixed in the next to last update of SS.  Hooray.

However, I still have a problem where I cannot cut/past hyperlinks from excel.  They just show up as the text.  Any ideas community?

My goal is to be able to create all the hyperlinks in excel and to cut/paste them into SS, but I have not found a way other than in the comment above where i go through multiple file formats.

  • I too am running into the same issue as Brad.

I want to be able pull my hyperlinks over from Excel into Smartsheet without manually having to add them to each cell.

Has there been a fix for this?
