Inconsistent Horizontal Column Alignment

Is anyone else experiencing a problem where new records entered into a Worksheet sometimes aligns the text horizontally at the top of the row, and other times at the bottom, or center??  I can't find any consistency in some of the columns, even if I've set the entire row to align top, or align center, or align bottom.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

  • It's possible that the alignment was set on the prior records at the cell or row level, instead of the column level. In my experience, I haven't seen this issue, but that may be because I always format the whole column by highlighting the column header and then applying the format.

Thanks, Mike.  I'll give a shot to formatting entire columns.  However, what I recall is that new columns might be aligned one way, and other columns aligned another, with no rhyme or reason.  In other words, upon creation, they are not always aligned the same.

    Hi Ken,

Can you maybe share some screenshots? (Delete/replace any confidential/sensitive information before sharing) That would make it easier to help.

    Hope that helps!

    Have a fantastic weekend!

    HI

This post intruiged me so I have done a little testing in a new Grid sheet and can say that New Text/Contact Lists/Dates/Dropdown Lists type Columns are Top Left aligned, Symbols & Checkboxes are Top Center aligned and Duration and Autonumber type columns appear Top Right aligned.

None of my New columns aligned to vertical centre or vertical bottom all Vertical Top.

My suggestion would be to use the Clear Formatting button on the columns that are coming in strangely (highlight the column and press the button that looks like a pencil eraser) and re-applying the alignment that you would like.

Maybe a shared user has been playing with formatting or if you inported the data maybe it retained some previous formatting?

Strange! Hope you get this sorted! It would frustrate me! haha

    Kind regards

    Debbie
