With the new format of the tool bar (now a ribbon at the top), I can't for the life of me find a button to indent/outdent to create tasks and subtasks. Can anyone point me in the right direction? This is a trial version... am I missing some of the key functionality?

  • Hi Shari,

The buttons are the ones between Filter and the font (Arial, in your image).  They're grayed out probably because you have a cell selected in a row that can't be indented or outdented (e.g. the first row of the sheet).  Try clicking on a cell in a row that should be indentable and you should see it become selectable.

    Hope that helps.

    Hi Shari,

You can also utilize the keyboard shortcut keys - "Ctrl [" or "Ctrl ]".  I am a huge shortcut user and found it very helpful.  If you are  on a row or field that is not the primary, it will not allow you to utilize this feature.

    Hope this helps as well!

I am trying to find this keyboard shortcut on a Mac with Swedish keyboard and Google Chrome...

Cant seem to get it to work, in any other application Square brackets are located on alt+8 and alt+9 but using that in Smartsheet doesnt work.

    Any thoughts?

    Hi Mattias,

It should work. It works for me with the same setup.

    I hope this helps you!
