Jira Sub-Task Link

Using the Jira + Smartsheet connector, I am having difficulty getting the Parent of a Sub-task to show.  When adding Parent Link from Jira it receives this message in the sheet:

{"hasEpicLinkFieldDependency":false,"showField":false,"nonEditableReason":{"reason":"SUBTASK_LINK_SHOULD_BE_USED","message":"To set the parent for a sub-task, use the sub-task link."}}

However going back to the Connector there is no Sub-Task Link field option.  Is there a way to get the parent for a sub-task from Jira to use in Smartsheet?  We are using Jira Cloud if that matters.

Thanks!

  • Hi Chris,

    The Parent Link field comes from the Portfolio Add-On in Jira. Note that the Jira Connector doesn't officially support the Portfolio Add-On. I did look into this error and was able to replicate it in our own instance, though I'm not able to set a Parent Link for Sub-tasks in Jira.

    Sub-tasks in Jira are automatically created under a parent Issue (Story, Epic, Task), so setting a parent link shouldn't be necessary.

    The Jira Connector supports the hierarchies set within Jira when the option to "Maintain JIRA hierarchy grouping: Epic, Story, Task, Subtask, etc" is enabled.

    You can read more about that here: https://help.smartsheet.com/articles/2479486-keep-related-issues-together-with-smartsheet-hierarchy
