Multiple Selections from a List
I have graphic tracking system in development through smart sheets that would benefit from being able to tag multiple elements of a graphics content for flexible searching. For example, a graphic that shows a sunset over mountains with a lake in the foreground would be tagged in a graphic content column with outdoor, nature, lake, trees, pine trees, kayak, boat, sunset, birds, snow, snowman. Or however many things you want to tag. And they would likely also need to be able to add new things to the list.
The dropdown lists seem to only allow selecting one item from a list.
Does this issue make sense, and is there an option in smartsheets that I am missing?

You aren't missing anything. Smartsheet's Dropdown Lists only allow one item from the list to be selected.
I would not be surprised if they tried to roll out something around the time of ENGAGE 2018 (early October), but that is ONLY a guess and I have no inside knowledge.
