Notification to someone not shared on a sheet.

We have a Smartsheet for Employee time off requests (Shared to the Department Managers and HR)

Employee completes the request form which triggers an approval request to the department manager.

Upon approval/decline a notification is sent to HR

- Here is where we’re missing something we also want the notification to be sent back to the employee.

We don’t want to share the sheet with all employees.

We have changed the “Alerts & Actions Permissions” to Restrictive – Users shared to this sheet and users in the sheet owner’s account. Does that mean if the Employee is one of My Smartsheet Contacts they will receive the notification?

If not, any suggestions?

I could be wrong, but you might need to change the alert restrictions to least restrictive. I was able to get the notification to send to my personal email, as I had included it in a contact column. The notification was sent to the user saying their request was denied. But I did have to lower my restrictions to least restrictive.

Users in the sheet owner's account would be all the licensed users of smartsheet in your personal or work account, as well as those you have shared on your sheet. It doesn't have to do with who is a Smartsheet contact or not.
