Outdent very poor functionality
Why is that if you outdent a row that the row below becomes a sub task of the just outdented row? This is really stupid and driving me crazy as I try to move rows in and out. If I have 10 rows that are say at a level two indent and I select row 5 and outdent it once all the rows below become subtasks of the row I just outdented. Ready to throw my computer through the wall and cancel my licenses.

I am curious as to what you expect it to do? In your example with 10 rows at level two indent and you select row 5 and outdent, are you wanting all rows beneath (6 and on) to outdent with row 5? Essentially impacting every row beneath 5 with an outdent? That would be much more frustrating to me.
Why not just highlight the rows you want to outdent (5-10 in this case?) and select outdent, they will all move as one.

Smartsheets performs all of its project management functionality through indentation. I'm not sure they could program the situation you described any differently given their current paradigm. If you want the following rows to stay subtasks of your parent task in row 1, maybe you could cut row 5 out and insert it at the bottom of the column before outdenting it.

It was late and I was trying to edit a very large schedule that had been formatted incorrectly. In my situation last night my expectation was that the row selected would leave the "group" of rows that were part of that particular indent. As a result I kept "breaking" my structure and instead of a simple click on a row and outdent I was having to insert blank rows and such. The cut and paste method is not conducive to a large sheet were moving to the bottom the column is many screens down. I can see why you might want to have each of the items below follow that item but that means sort order of the rows is key. Perhaps the option of "leaveing" the group vs taking the items below with you would be good. I can see use cases for both.

Bill it certainly takes getting used to the hierarchy structure design of Smartsheet.
At least it did for me, but once I groked it, I grew to like it.
Also, it might be easier to cancel your licenses THEN throw the computer through the wall.
