    Hi,

From what I see you need to be either using Office 365 or your Outlook is connected to an Exchange server.  i.e. you have a corporate account within an organisation that is using MS Exchange server to manage your e-mails.

If you are using Outlook to Non exchange servers, i.e. web mail, Google mail etc then it does not work.

Hi MMartinez and JamesR - just to clarify, you must have an Office 365 subscription to use this integration. If you have an Office 365 account, you can follow the steps listed here to install the app: http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/portal/articles/1960482-smartsheet-app-for-outlook-beta-#install

If you are unsure if you use Office 365, I would contact your IT Admin. Let us know if you have Office 365 and are still running into issues installing this.

  • Hi!

I have 365, Exchange, and Smartsheet running on my Office Portal. I can't find the download for Outlook 365 2013 Desktop app anywhere.

    (I followed http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/portal/articles/1960482-smartsheet-app-for-outlook-beta-#install above.)

    What can I try next?

    Thx,

    Rick

Hi Rick-- I'm not quite sure what you mean by this. It's not possible to download the Smartsheet for Outlook add-in as a desktop application or shortcut, as it's an add-in that exists within Outlook. Have you connected to Smartsheet within Outlook and are you seeing the first screen pictured in this article?: http://help.smartsheet.com/customer/en/portal/articles/1960482-smartsheet-app-for-outlook. If so, then the installation of the add-in was successful. If not, please reach out to Support@Smartsheet.com for more troubleshooting!

  • Kennedy,

    Thanks for your thoughts.

I need Smartsheet to interact with Outlook Tasks. I don't think Shartsheet does that; I don't see teh app's availability in Outlook Tasks.

    I need,

    Smartsheet Tasks <===> Outlook Task

synchronization, or else Ii will have to duplicate all of my information again in Smartsheet.

I just can't see how to "Smartsheet Tasks <===> Outlook Task" in Smartsheet, and am afraid that, if I can't integrate my data, then I will only complicate my data.

This was the nature of my question.

  • Hi Rick-- Thanks for clarifying that! Our integration with Outlook doesn't currently extend to Outlook Tasks but I've added your vote for this to our Enhancement Request list. I'm not very familiar with Outlook--can you add Outlook Tasks when events are added to an Outlook calendar? If so, you could sync your Smartsheet and Outlook Calendars, then set up Tasks to pull in that Calendar information. Let me know if that's something that's possible!

  • Hi, I agree with Rick that integration with Outlook tasks would be a really useful feature, for me, more important than email linking. Hope this might be a feature in the pipeline. I'm not sure how the calendar work-around would work- I have multiple calendars in Outlook. You could possibly create a dedicated tasks calendar, but this would be very messy!

  • Thanks for that feedback, Howard! We work with Google Apps internally, so I'm not very familar with Outlook. I'll pass this input along to our integrations team :)

  • I agree with Rick. Having smartsheet and outlook tasks work together would make my life a lot easier

  • Any progress on sync tasks with outlook tasks?

Isn't consolidation into a single pane of glass or the methodology to reduce the manual steps the entire purpose of an organizational, collaborative and project management tool like Smartsheet?

I too vote for Outlook Task integration.  As well as vast improvements with existing capabilities in Outlook.  I would like to be able to highlight a portion of a thread and add it to comments in a task.  Or have the task automatically update the comments.  Or have times on due dates to show up on calendars as well as the other direction.

As for the above OP.  You likely added the Outlook Add-in to your Outlook, but have more then 1 account setup within it.  When you select the SmartSheet Add-in it tries to authenticate using your account registered.  If they don't match you get a blank page.  they could easily instead setup asking you for your creds instead of checking what account you are coming from or otherwise improve this.

I have 4 accounts setup in my Outlook.  I can only use their add in for the 1 that I signed up to Smartsheet for.  Thus for the other 3, I have no support.

  • +1 to outlook task integration - Any news?
