My team is experiencing attachments that open in a new tab, but are only downloaded rather than viewed directly in the browser. This functionality was added back in August, and we've become quite dependent on it. Has there been some change? I've tested my browser settings on other websites. It's just happening on Smartsheet. Please advise.

Hi Preston-- Can you confirm that Chrome PDF viewer is enabled entering "chrome://plugins/" into the URL bar and verifying that the Chrome PDF viewer is "Always allowed to run"? This will only affect PDFs--other files may automatically download and you will not have the option to view them in browser. Let me know if this doesn't fix the issue.

Thanks for checking that out, Preston! That information, as well as a few other reports of this behavior, helped us determine that this is a bug related to the Amazon service we use to store attachments. We've reached out to the Amazon team about this and I'll update this thread when we have more information.

Thank you, Kennedy. Having to download each time is extremely time consuming as we need to review attachments hourly. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Preston-- Yes, we are in the progress of fixing the issue so we are finding that the service is working intermittently. We'll update this thread when we have more information. 

Does this only work in Chrome? We use FireFox and Chrome heavily here at OSU and would like to know if there is a way to enable this functionality in FireFox?
