Percent Complete - by date

Apologies if this is a repeat question, or not one of my brighter moments, but I'm looking for a way to display incremental milestone/project progress - at a glance - and by comparison to other points in time.

Everything I've found shows progress as of today (where we are now) but I want to be able to see where we were last week, and the week before, etc. A way to see progress over time. Not necessarily on a per task basis, but at least per milestone, and certainly per project.

Think of it as "View Cell History" in a % complete cell, but charted out somehow so you can effectively see how fast the needle is moving (or not moving), week-by-week, for major milestones, etc.

Any thoughts or ideas on that one? And again, please forgive me if I'm missing the obvious.

Thank you!

    That's a reallly interesting feature.

    My mind is spinning.

Inside Smartsheet will be clunky (I might start by copying rows, but I only want one or two columns, not the whole row).

Automating via Zapier might work ... add a new row to another sheet when the % complete changes for example.

Once on the other sheet, organize (either by formula or hierarchy) to get the data neat and then try to chart it - probably need something else outside Smartsheet ... but maybe not.

    Going on my to-do list.

    Steve,

In the original sheet Identify the Rows that are your KPI Rows (Maybe a Checkbox Column) and check them.

Create a copy of your Project sheet No Data.

Create a named filter to identify the rows base on the check box.

On the given day each week, apply the filter and move to other sheet (This process does not copy formulae it copies results

    Repeat every week.

You will then end up with a List of Snapshots.

    Do as you want.

  • James, I appreciate your input here. I was able to do this using "Paste Special" - copying the percentages and paste special as values.

Now - if we could only automate this!

    Thank you!

I am afraid the words Smartsheet and Automation are only just on speaking terms as yet.  We live in hope that this will improve.  In the meantime there are other tools out ther that can automate things in Smartsheet for you, like Zapier.
