Predecessors without adjusting date?

I've searched the community/help and haven't found a good solution so I'll ask here.

There are tasks that have proposed start and finish dates. I have a duplicate task that will show what the actual start and finish dates are because of delays and such.

Currently the duplicate has the same start/finish as the original and will be changed if/when the schedule moves.

Is there an easy way to link together and visually see how it compares to the proposed tasks start and finish dates?

Using predecessors butts up the start date to the finish of the previous task which we don't want. We want to easily see discrepencies between the two.

Any help or suggestions would be great!

Suggest to have the Planning and Actual be separated into 2 different sheets.

Initially, the Actual sheet can be a copy of the Planning

Then create a report to run both the Planning and Actual sheets

As long as the columns for both sheets are the same, it should be easy to spot the difference.

Hello Dave,

It sounds like you're wanting functionality similar to baseline in Smartsheet. Although we don't have programmed functionality for this in Smartsheet (baseline can't be reflected in the Gantt chart), we have a potential workaround as outlined in our blog:
