Printing Dashboards - Change to parameters?

Hi all,

Has anybody else noticed that Dashboards no longer print at maximum width (i.e. 65% width jammed up against the left hand side) and always seem to have a grey background (even if the background is actually white)?

Dashboards used to print really well up until recently, but as per the attached, this is what I'm seeing now every time I print from any PC (Windows or Mac) or any browser. I had a situation on Friday where I could not get the dashboard to will the page width even at 200% scale.

I have noticed this over the past 4-6 weeks. Has something changed because of a release? Dashboards are the only way to produce any passable presentation material (sheets and reports are pretty ugly).

Hi Chris,

I'm not aware of any recent changes in the way we generate a printable version of a Dashboard. I'm also not seeing the same behavior as you (although I'm using Chrome for Mac). My dashboard wants to print left-justified but doesn't have the grey space and scales to 200% by default to fit the length of the page.

I'd recommend reaching out to our Support team to confirm this behavior and troubleshoot further. There could be browser extensions interfering with the way Smartsheet prints, or some other unknown variable that our Support team would like to troubleshoot with you.

Thank you for the response. I will definitely raise this with your support team as I don't think it's an issue with browser add-ins or plug-ins. It's also happening on multiple PCs with multiple OS versions and different browsers.

Just to clarify, I'm seeing exactly the same behaviour in the following environments in both a corporate LAN environment and my home network:

Windows 10 16299.431 - Chrome Version 67.0.3396.62 (Official Build) (64-bit)
Windows 10 16299.431 - Edge Microsoft Edge 41.16299.402.0
Windows 10 16299.431 - Firefox 60.0.1 (64-bit)
macOS 10.13.4 (17E150g) - Safari 11.1
macOS 10.13.4 (17E150g) - Chrome 67.0.3396.62

If I turn "Print Background Graphics" off, I lose the dashboard titles etc. and the grey background disappears too. Could you please check that you've got this option turned on too?

I've also asked others around me and they're seeing the same behaviour. Our desktop team has confirmed that we do not deploy browser add-ins via group policy, so it's unlikely to be a coincidence that everyone I've asked to test has somehow downloaded an add-in that could be affecting the printing.

Even your response hints at the left justification behaviour. This is definitely not the same experience I had printing dashboards a few months back.

I'm also seeing the same very frustrating behavior with dashboard printing. Has there been any resolution/more tips for getting the dashboard to print a bit better. I'm also running into where its cutting off the bottoms of the dashboards only allowing one page to be created in a pdf. Any advice?

I also have been experiencing this issue. I have tried:

Expanding my content
Changing my printer settings
Print it to "fit to paper"
Save to PDF

None of these work. It shouldn't be so hard to figure this out...

Hello Smartsheet.... any update on this one?

I need to create a printed version of a portfolio level dashboard. The dashboard is comprised up multiple projects and is therefore a bit long. The print to PDF does not cut it in its current form. A labor intensive work around for me is to capture a bunch of screen shots and stitch them together. Not a great solution as I need to distribute an update regularly, and must include a printable version as well as the link.

Printing (to a printer or PDF) should be a basic and supported function.

Please provide an update on where this stands.
