Published User issue

The Activity Log properly logs the system users and their activities. What shows is the user's name and the activity info.

I notice however, that several entries in the log lists "Publised User" as the person whose acivity is tracked.

How do I tell who this "published user" is, and why isn't the user's nme listed instead?

The Published User should be coming from a generic link that does not require a login. There is no way for the system to know who that might be.

Curious to learn why there is no way to identify who is accessing the shared pages.  My thoughts are that web analytics should provide insight to whom in the world is access the sheets/pages.

    Eager to find a solution.

  • I would also like to find a solution. Our firm is phasing our Excel and merging to Smartsheet for some tracking. The issue is: Some firms are prohibited by their IT department from clicking on private links. They are allowed to open public links, so the publish option "sort of" works. But, then we can't see who is making changes.

Perhaps Smartsheet can implement an option for public users to sign in, or at least "name" themselves while viewing the published sheet.

A solution to this will be much appreciated and encourage our firm to use Smartsheet more.
