Report Builder: Gannt Chart Predecessors Not Working

I'm trying to run a single report of my 5 project schedules so I can quickly see aligning milestones and deliverables. However, when I run the report, all of the predecessors become unconnected and the columns report 1 predecessor. This is kind of a big deal for my reporting.

Anybody have a fix for this?

Thank you!

This is definitely not normal behavior.

Can you post a screen shot or two?

    Was this working before?

I was mistaken. I can't find an example where I was displaying the Predecessor column in a Report and I must have not cared about the 'missing' lines in the Gantt view (I'm not a big fan of Gantt)

That said, it makes sense to me why we are setting what we are seeing in the Report.

    1. There is no guarantee that both a successor and predecessor  meeting the criteria for a given Report. For example, if you are looking at non-completed tasks, the predecessor might be complete, but the successor isn't. There is no link to display.

    2. The Predecessor row numbers don't mean anything in the Report. In a Sheet, if I reorder the rows, the Predecessor's number will shift to reflect the new row numbers that represent the connection. In a Report, this is not the case. Row 8 in your image is not row 8 in the underlying Sheet. It might be, but likely isn't. Let's assume it is 112. Does that information provide any value to the user of the Report? Very little and certainly nothing that is actionable. Instead "1 Predecessor", "2 Predecessors", "3 Predecessors", etc... at least gives us something semi-useful to work with.

If you had seen this working as you expect before, I would suggest contacting Smartsheet support (support@smartsheet.com) and maybe something has changed.

    Sorry for the bad news.

    Thanks Craig.

No, I hadn't gotten it to work, but I DID import the linked items. I would have just thought they would have been connected. I get your explaination for why, but I thought these were smart sheets ;)

Gonna reach out to support. Thanks again.

I just ran into this myself. Any word on how we can pull the predecessor row numbers into the report? In my case, all predecessor rows will be displaying on the report

Anyone had an update on this? Or figured a workaround?
