Report Publishing...
I want to be able to publish a report link for editors to update a project status the way I can publish fully editable links via the sheet itself. Why can I only publish secure links for reports that require a login? I want editors to have access to change information in a report without logging in. What am I missing?

It is only possible to publish reports as read only. While I think it would be useful to edit published reports, I can see why they might be hesitant to implement that. Its easy for someone to change a report to include additional information or change sheet data would automatically add more information to the report. The concern I would have, what it data is automatically added to a report or the report is changed to include more data but that is information I wouldnt want shared to whoever is seeing a published version. I see some control concerns with how easy it is to add information to a report.

I see your point but what here is my scenario. I have a sheet that has several points of data. Part of that data will be supplied by using a WebForm. On occasion a submitter may need to update their entry but I dont want to share the entire sheet with everyone, I see the availablity of a published report where I can select the columns being the perfect fit for this but since you cant edit the report data I am not sure how to proceed.

I believe I found the answer to my own question. The way I have accomplished my goal is to publish the actual sheet allowing anyone to edit. I also hide the columns that I dont want. From what I can tell once published, I am embedding the sheet in a page, the uses are not able to unhide columns. They are however able to edit the existing rows. I then use a report to house all the columns of the sheet and can do the additional edits to the columns that are hidden in the sheet.
My only thought at this point it to make it to where you have to have an account to fill in the form and or update the sheet. This way I can take advantage of the logging of the persons email address as the requestor and updator.

Hi Michael-- Have you considered using Update Requests to allow users to update data they have already submitted to a sheet?

We would then have to create update requests every time an entry was created in the form which would add more complexity and work to the process. I would prefer to make it as streamlined as possible.

I'd also like to request the option to allow a report to be published as editable. I'm able to make a report for a specific person, showing them only what I want them to see, but they'd have to log in to make changes to that - but they're an external person, and making them log in is not an option. Additionally, the update request is great if it's only a couple lines, but I need to have this person update about 50 rows - and clicking through 1 by 1 just doesn't work. It makes MORE sense that your report would be able to be editiable when published, rather than the master sheet, if you ask me.
