Reporting - Hierarchy functionality

How do you create indents in the Reporting function that was done in the Project Plan? At the moment, when I generate a report it lists a series of tasks but does not create the hierarchy that is done in the Project Plan

    Hi Rory,

At the time there is not a way to report hierarchy in the reporting function. The indent buttons only work in the sheet itself. This has been a hot topic for some time now and I believe it is something the Smartsheet brains are working on getting for us. Sorry there is not a better answer. Take a look at this link of conversation. It has some work around ideas. https://community.smartsheet.com/discussion/reporting-hierarchies

    Peace!

It looks like its been over two years since this post has begun, are we anywhere closer to getting this functionality?  Please cast my vote, this is such an important feature!

I'm with mrayn1025!! I need to be able to see hierarchy in the reporting function, the same way you see it when filtering the sheet itself. Otherwise, Reporting is kind of useless for us... Thanks

  • Agreed...this is a very important feature to have. I'm working on a report that needs the level of detail I've selected, but without hierarchy, it looks like a hot mess.

  • I know this is not really an answer, but it is a work around I use since this has not been addressed to date.  I created a column "Hierarchy" in the plan, assigning the various levels for each line (Usually 1-4, and 0 for milestones).  Then, you can filter your report based on this column.  You DO have to remember to add the details when adding lines to the plan, but otherwise my reports have come out the way I want them to.
