Saving and exporting

I am a new user of Smartsheet with some questions:

1. Can we save the project plan on a local storage device?

2. When sent as Excel, only tasks, dates, and duration of the task are sent.  How can we send the complete view showing the days and weeks on which the tasks are marked?

3. Can we work on the file off line?

Thx.

    Hi Orhan,

    2. When exporting to Excel, only the cell data is exported and all columns (and formatting) are included by default. I'm assuming you are referring to the ability to export the Gantt chart that appears on the right hand side of your project sheet? If so, this is not possible. You could create an Excel template that does something similar and then copy your data into an underlying tab, but that would require a fairly decent knowledge of Excel.

    1. and 3. are somewhat related. There are a number of ways you can work offline, unfortunately none of them are native to Smartsheet and all require some configuration, additional solutions and some trial-and-error:

    • You can export to an Excel file and work there
    • You could export to a Google Sheet and then mark the document available for offline access
    • You could setup a more automated process using an automation product like Zapier and then have Smartsheet update Google Sheets or Excel (if true local storage is required) when changes are made

All of the above will not be 100% perfect for all users and all applications and will need some work to get it close to being a workable solution. I hope this helps.

    Kind regards,

    Chris McKay

By integrating Smartsheet with Appsheet, you can store your work locally on any smart device then Sync when you next get a connection, which will save you lots of time and effort trying to save to such as excel, plus you add considerable functionality not available in Smartsheet natively.

If you want to see how this works here is a 2 minute explanatory video link.
