I see this happening from time to time, although not *every time*. Is this something new? Did I miss it in an update? This is one of the reasons I still have some in my office using Google sheets. They like being able to see LIVE changes. Where can I find info on this?

  • Hi Preston,

Yes in April we rolled out a change that in the most common collaboration scenarios, Smartsheet will now automatically refresh a sheet you’re viewing and alert you to the refresh with a toast to reflect changes made by (1) another concurrent user or (2) an automated action. The changed cells will also be highlighted. Previously, Smartsheet would display a toast to let you know that you need to click refresh to see new edits and now the toast will just let you know the sheet has already been refreshed.

This system enhancement will reduce the number of times that you need to click refresh, creating a more seamless, collaborative experience. In some scenarios, however, you will still receive a toast that asks you to refresh. Some of the scenarios are those when you have unsaved changes on the sheet, a save changes the structure of the sheet by adding a new column or row, or if there are many collaborators on the sheet.

Hopefully you and your team find this enhancement provides you a more seamless, collaborative experience.

Sorry for the late reply. I appreciate the follow up! I've been watching how this feature works. It's getting closer and closer to live updates. :) However, I have noticed a little more lag with conditional formatting. Is it possible this feature is impacting loading times for conditional formatting?
